Speaking at Yaamava' Resort & Casino in Highland, California, on June 2, where she premiered her unreleased song "Give It All Away," co-written with Linda Perry, Simpson said, "I'm so grateful for every day that I feel alive and in my body, and I'm so proud of myself. It felt right to share this song with you," Us Weekly reports.<\/p>\n
The "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" star told viewers, "I want you all to know that you have to be a little gentle with yourself and everything will be okay if you just give in to all your feelings, and that's what this song is about.".<\/p>\n
In November 2025, after separating from her husband, former NFL player Eric Johnson, Simpson commemorated the anniversary on Instagram, simultaneously discussing the dark side of alcoholism. She wrote, "Eight years ago, I made a choice to face, own, and let go of the parts of my life I had chosen. That decision allowed me to fully commit to fulfilling God's purpose. Alcohol had dulled my intuition, blocked my dreams, and haunted my fears of complacency.".<\/p>\n
In her 2020 memoir, Open Book, the singer revealed that she quit drinking in 2017 and has since spoken openly about her journey to sobriety. Last year, she also told People magazine, "The moment I started drinking too much was when I started writing music in 2016, and it was making me feel depressed and sorry for myself. I don't know why I felt sorry for myself, except that alcohol was lying to me, saying, 'You're braver because you can say it when I'm on your side.'".<\/p>\n
