When it comes to Pamela Anderson, the general public often recalls the scandalous Tommy Lee tapes or her career with Playboy. Of course, it's impossible not to mention \u00abBaywatch\u00bb<\/em> and an incomparably excellent, self-ironic comedy with elements of action \u00abVIP\u00bb<\/em> . I find this shameful because Anderson, when in her element, can do a decent job in action comedies, as we saw most recently when she starred alongside Liam Neeson in the reboot \u00abThe Naked Gun\u00bb<\/em> 2025. Back in 1994, Anderson stole the show in a small action film called \u00abRaw Justice\u00bb<\/em> , which is now available for free on Tubi under the title \u00abGood Cop, Bad Cop\u00bb<\/em> .<\/p>\n

What always fascinated me about Pamela Anderson's performance in this role was her effortless charisma and ability to interact so well with her co-stars. She's well aware of being cast as a blonde bombshell, yet she can deliver a snarky remark as well as any actor, always with a wink and a nod, as if to say, "I belong here, and I'm going to shine.". <\/p>\n

That's exactly what you get with the film "Good Cop, Bad Cop"\u00ab<\/em> . It's marketed as an action movie, but in my opinion, it's a pure comedy. The detective story itself is pretty clich\u00e9d, but let's be realistic. When the plot revolves around a mysterious murder involving a jaded bounty hunter, his prime suspect who insists he's innocent, and a prostitute played by Anderson who finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, no one watches the film for the plot. They watch it because they want a familiar narrative structure that allows the actors to use their favorite genre tropes and shine with as much charm and charisma as the audience can handle.<\/p>\n

The mayor's daughter died, what to do now?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

When in in the film "Good Cop, Bad Cop"\u00ab<\/em> When we first meet Mace (David Keith), we're immediately introduced to everything we need to know about him. He's a rough and tumble bounty hunter and former cop who apprehends criminals by any means necessary, even if that means borrowing clothes from a prostitute named Sarah (Pamela Anderson) to gain access to the motel room where his suspect is hiding. Mace constantly clashes with Detectives Atkins (Leo Rossi) and Stiles (Charles Napier) at every meeting, especially after he's brought into the station dressed like a prostitute: a black wig, a hot pink frilly blouse, and a black miniskirt. <\/p>\n

However, the real conflict revolves around the murder of Donna Stiles (April Bogenschutz). Donna was the daughter of Mayor David Stiles (Charles Napier) and Mace's former lover, so the case hits him hard when the mayor visits him asking for help. Shaken by Donna's death, Mace takes on the case, and the mayor tasks him with working closely with Deputy Mayor Bob Jenkins, played by Stacy Keach, to bring it to a close. But there's one thing to know about Mace regarding his emotional connection to the murder: he doesn't complain or seek revenge. He simply wants to finish the job and move on.<\/p>\n

The prime suspect in Donna's murder is her latest romance, Mitch McCallum (Robert Hayes). Mitch is immediately jailed, but his bail is posted anonymously just as quickly. We soon learn that he was released so he could be killed, meaning whoever is really behind the crime may escape punishment because the prime suspect has been eliminated. <\/p>\n

When Mace tracks down Mitch, who maintains his innocence, they team up, partner-cop style, to find the real mastermind behind Donna's murder. Sarah accidentally gets caught up in the case when, in a rage, she seeks out Mace to get her clothes back, and before you know it, we have a dream team of real-life detectives who communicate almost exclusively through witty one-liners and sexual innuendo. A love triangle may even form, but despite this, they remain focused on the case.<\/p>\n

A spectacle to chew for fun<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The dynamics of the relationships between all the main characters in the film \u00abGood Cop, Bad Cop\u00bb<\/em> It's simply fantastic because everyone here knows their stuff. It's a simple detective story that would be boring on its own, but it's livened up by the fact that the filmmakers clearly know what they're doing. The atmosphere is somewhere between a pulp detective story and an airboat thriller, with plenty of realistic explosions for added credibility. <\/p>\n

While Anderson excels in the role thanks to his willingness to fully embrace the comic relief (the high-speed chase immediately comes to mind), David Keith's magnetic performance as Mace is indescribable. He's cynical to a fault, but has a knack for spotting a promising lead. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty, but he'll drink a couple of sodas first to get in the right frame of mind. He appears world-weary, but he also knows he has a job to do, and he doesn't want a hangover to get to him.<\/p>\n

Add to this the ever-threatening presence of Stacy Keach as a man who always seems to know more than he's saying, competing bail bondsmen tied to Mitch's botched murder attempt, and a handful of colorful supporting characters, and you have a detective thriller that's light on fluff but has more than enough action to keep you entertained; there are enough context clues to keep you on track, but the film doesn't force them on you too much. You can simply sit back, enjoy the action, and watch the characters interact with each other, because that's where the real fun lies. <\/p>\n

If you are going to watch \u00ab"Good Cop, Bad Cop",<\/em> Knowing that the movie will have a standard "good guy wins, bad guy loses" plotline, all you can do is sit back and enjoy the experience.
