Photo: Jay Maidment\/Sony<\/p>\n<p> When Holland, who celebrated his 30th birthday on June 1, was asked about his 2026 statements, he changed his mind.<\/p>\n<p> \u00ab&quot;It&#039;s funny, I came across that quote somewhere recently and I was a little confused because I was trying to remember what I meant,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p> \u00ab&quot;I think the bottom line is, I&#039;d really like to pass the torch, but I haven&#039;t been able to yet,&quot; said the actor, who has played the dual role of Peter Parker and the friendly neighborhood superhero since he was 18.<\/p>\n<p> \u00ab&quot;We definitely discuss it a lot in the studio,&quot; Holland continued. &quot;So maybe I should change the quote to 37.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p> He jokingly added that the statement, made several years ago, could have been an attempt to \u00abput pressure on Sony and intimidate them into thinking that I\u2019m not going to make <em>\u00abSpider-Man 4\u00bb<\/em> now that I have a new contract looming on the horizon.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p> \u00ab&quot;So I don&#039;t know what it could have been,&quot; he continued. &quot;It could have been part of a strategy to create fear.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p> The actor added that he would be more than proud to continue his work in this popular franchise.<\/p>\n<p> \u00ab&quot;I think the truth is that playing Spider-Man has been the joy of my life,&quot; he said. &quot;Now I&#039;m kind of on a pedestal, and I&#039;ll keep doing it for as long as I&#039;m invited.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p> Holland, who started a relationship with his <em>co-star in the film &quot;Spider-Man&quot;\u00ab<\/em> Zendaya in 2021 has a lot to think about as her career progresses. <\/p>\n<p> Tom Holland and Zendaya at the premiere of &quot;Spider-Man: No Way Home&quot; in Los Angeles on December 13, 2021.
