\u00abThe Devil Wears Prada 2 and Scary Movie 6 are sequels to franchises that began in the 2000s. The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Scary Movie 1 were released in 2006 and 2000, respectively. Despite being two decades old, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and the new Scary Movie prove that audiences want reboots, revivals, and sequels of films from the 2000s.<\/p>\n

Rebooting 2000s movies is the future of Hollywood.<\/h2>\n

Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, The Devil Wears Prada 2 brings back four beloved characters from the original: Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.<\/p>\n

To call The Devil Wears Prada 2 a success would be an understatement. Made on a budget of $100 million, the film grossed $643 million worldwide, nearly doubling the original's box office. Critical and audience reviews were also positive, earning a "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n

While Scary Movie 6 won't reach the heights of The Devil Wears Prada 2, it should be a success for Paramount. Much of the original cast returns, including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall.<\/p>\n

The sixth film in the franchise is projected to gross around $40 million in its opening weekend, but with positive reviews, it has the potential to reach $50 million. With an estimated budget of $30 million, Scary Movie is well on its way to profitability, despite negative reviews and a low Rotten Tomatoes score.<\/p>\n

The success of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Scary Movie will kick off a trend of rebooting 2000s films. Later this year, in November, The Fokker Family, the fourth film in the Meet the Parents series, will be released.<\/p>\n

Reboots of 2000s films are now outgrossing films based on 1980s franchises. Masters of the Universe, based on the 1980s He-Man, is likely to flop at the box office. The Running Man, a reboot of the 1987 film directed by Glen Powell, also failed both critically and financially.<\/p>\n

Hollywood loves hits. The industry will continue to invest in successful strategies. Expect more reboots and sequels of 2000s films in the future.<\/p>\n
