In fact, it's her specialty.

«Our format is transformation. That’s all we do, and now I’m known as the host of a channel about transforming small spaces,» the interior design expert tells PEOPLE about her popular YouTube channel, where she hosts Studio Fix program .

In the popular series, which has been viewed over 28 million times, Gaither transforms studio apartments, typically around 500 square feet. In each episode, she helps her clients significantly improve their rental properties, using renter-friendly solutions in a stylish and sophisticated way.

«"It's absolutely magical to watch us transform a room into five different spaces at once," she says of what draws her loyal audience. "So whether you live in the studio or not, I think it's the magic we can create in a small space that makes it even more engaging.".

An apartment featured on the show "Studio Fix." Photo: Studio Makeover. An apartment featured on the show "Studio Fix." Photo: Studio Makeover.

As you might expect, every transformation comes with its own set of unique and unexpected challenges. Some arise spontaneously, while others are the result of a well-thought-out plan—for example, implementing a client's minimalist black-and-white theme. "I only use color in my decor, mostly bright or dark, moody colors," says Gaither. "So when a challenge arises that we feel we can handle exceptionally well, we take it on.".

For her most recent client, the sheer size alone proved overwhelming: the space was just 100 square feet, the smallest studio she and her team had ever tackled. "It wasn't even an apartment. It was basically a room, and the kitchen was in the pantry," says Gaither. "You couldn't even open the stove because it was flush with the refrigerator.".

Because Studio Fix Created by her team at Gater Studios, there's never just one person in any space. And in this case, she says with a laugh, "There were five of us in there, and all our stuff was everywhere.".

Studio Fix Makeover. Photo: Carla Antonio. No one else is going to squeeze into a small space,'" she recalls, highlighting one of the main reasons why the show is so beloved by so many viewers.

«It’s difficult. It’s really, really difficult to do,» she continues, adding that the project as a whole Studio Fix «"It resonated with a lot of people because not many people are remodeling studio apartments, and also because a lot of people live in studio apartments.".

While such transformations are certainly challenging, Gaither and her team enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to make these spaces functional.

Studio Fix Makeover. Studio Fix Makeover (Photo: Studio Makeover)

When it came to a 100-square-foot space where the client wanted to accommodate a sitting and work area, as well as a bed for an adult, they found the perfect solution. "We added a loft bed, which had never been done before," says Gaither, explaining, "It's like a bunk bed, but the bottom can be used as a living room or workspace.".

«"That was the only time I was really nervous because I thought, 'It could be different for whoever's doing the renovation. They might like it, they might not.' But it was really the only way to add a workspace and a sitting area," she continues, adding, "I think it's really cool.".

For Gaither, the fun comes from "taking risks and trying new things. I feel like we've tried almost everything on the channel, so it's really fun to push the boundaries and see what we can create in 100 square feet.".

New episodes of Studio Fix are released every other Saturday on Alexandra Gayter's YouTube channel .
