Stahl&#039;s colleagues, correspondents Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega, and producer Tanya Simon, were killed in the firings.<\/p>\n<p> The show&#039;s departing correspondent, Anderson Cooper, who publicly explained his departure by citing a desire to spend more time with his children, called for the show to maintain its independence in his farewell speech, which offended Weiss.<\/p>\n<p> Stahl and fellow stars Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim told staff they would stay to keep &quot;60 Minutes&quot; from &quot;fading.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p> <em>Liked this article?
