He was 91.<\/p>\n<p> Padney died peacefully on Monday surrounded by his family.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p> Caitlin O&#039;Heaney, the actress who starred in He Knows You&#039;re Alone and The Gold Monkey Story, has died at the age of 73. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p> Actress Kelly Curtis and sister of Jamie Lee Curtis have died at the age of 69. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p> Marcia Lucas, the Oscar-winning editor of Star Wars, has died at the age of 80. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> During his time at ABC, he became Senior Vice President of Special Projects, Talent and Other Programs, where he produced and oversaw numerous award-winning programs, including the Academy Awards, American Music Awards, Emmy Awards, American Comedy Awards, the International Special Olympics Opening Ceremony, and ABC&#039;s 50th Anniversary Celebration at Radio City Music Hall.<\/p>\n<p> Padney oversaw such special programs as <em>\u00ab&quot;The Sound of Christmas&quot; by Julie Andrews<\/em> , &quot;The Royal Gala&quot; in honor of His Royal Highness Prince Charles and Princess Diana, <em>\u00abNight of 100 Stars\u00bb<\/em> and the magazine&#039;s anniversary events <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> . He has also been involved in the development of television films and miniseries, including <em>\u00ab&quot;The Puppeteer<\/em> \u00bb Jane Fonda, <em>\u00ab&quot;Christmas Memory&quot;\u00bb<\/em> Truman Capote and <em>\u00abPlaza Suite<\/em> \u00bb Neil Simon.<\/p>\n<p> Under his leadership, projects created with Pudney&#039;s participation have received more than 50 Emmy Awards.<\/p>\n<p> In 1988, Pudney founded the Gary L. Pudney Company, continuing his work as a producer and executive producer for television and global events. <\/p>\n<p> He also served as an arts advisor to the Princess Grace Foundation in the United States, helping to preserve Princess Grace&#039;s legacy.
