Speaking to PEOPLE at the Madison FYC panel in Los Angeles on May 30, Russell discussed his move from Los Angeles to Colorado. He and Goldie Hawn own a log cabin there. The 75-year-old actor noted that the home allows him to focus on the everyday things he values most.<\/p>\n

\u00ab"I want to see what I want to do, what I want to be a part of\u2014everything Colorado has to offer. Ultimately, I'd like to farm," Russell explained.<\/p>\n

\u00ab"When Goldie and I got together a couple of years later, we built a ranch there together, where our family grew up. That was 40 years ago," he added.<\/p>\n

However, Russell emphasized that he wasn't trying to "escape" Los Angeles when he decided to leave. He noted that such a move was unusual for his colleagues in the entertainment industry at the time.<\/p>\n

Russell says he's seen more and more people leaving Los Angeles since he moved there.<\/p>\n

Russell also told PEOPLE that he and Hawn moved in part so their children could experience Colorado life with them.<\/p>\n
