Logitech recently released Logitech MX mechanical mini keyboard<\/strong> for Mac, and we were curious to test the PC version, which is virtually identical but different in color. The only difference is the lack of a USB receiver and USB-C to USB-C cable in the Mac version.<\/p>\n

MX Mechanical Mini Keyboard Review<\/h2>\n

This The MX Mechanical Mini keyboard has a 75% layout.<\/strong> , meaning it contains 75% keys of a classic full-size keyboard, like the full-size MX Mechanical and other typical PC keyboards. Visually, this is evident in the absence of a numeric keypad and other keys typically located on the right.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I used to do tasks that required frequent use of the numeric keypad, such as 3D graphics programming, but that's no longer the case, so the absence of the numeric keypad was surprisingly painless. I also expected the arrow key layout to require some adjustment, but it worked out well. I'm still getting used to the new Home and End key layout, but Page Up and Page Down work "normally.".<\/p>\n

I do a lot of research and screenshotting because I use Slack with colleagues, so the lack of a "Printscreen" button was initially noticeable, but I configured Greenshot to use CTRL+` instead, and everything is fine. Coding something like \/* comments *\/ takes longer without the numeric keypad, but I could use a keyboard shortcut or a macro.<\/p>\n

The thing I miss most about my previous full-size G815 keyboard is the volume control, which I use constantly. If I used that keyboard regularly, I'd consider getting a USB volume control. The MX Mechanical Mini has dedicated volume buttons (F12 and two others), but the volume control is better (for me).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

That's it. The keycaps are the same size as larger keyboards, and the compact design is great for reducing the amount of space your right hand has to move from the keyboard to the mouse, making it easier to carry. However, Logitech doesn't consider it a "travel keyboard." More on that later.<\/p>\n

Logitech offers three key feedback options: Quiet Tactile, Linear, and Clicky. I tested all three on different keyboards, and I find that only the Clicky option feels more like a mechanical keyboard, so keep that in mind. Logitech's Clicky keys are closer to Cherry Brown than the super-clicky Blue keys.<\/p>\n

The Tactile Quiet and Linear keys feel more like membrane keys, which I wouldn't use. Your preferences may vary. But even the Clickly keys are much quieter than the Cherry Blue keys.<\/p>\n

This keyboard can connect to three devices via Bluetooth, and one of the three channels is used by default to connect to the included Logibolt wireless receiver.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There is a USB-C port, but it intended for charging only<\/strong> , and the keyboard can't be used as a wired device. It's a shame Logitech didn't provide this connection option. While the receiver would typically work just as well, a wired connection would have been more reliable on the 100% and perhaps would have provided lower latency.<\/p>\n

A USB-C port would be a logical addition, especially for such an expensive device where we need every possible option. It could also provide a way to connect a fourth device (desktop, laptop, phone, tablet) or reduce latency.<\/p>\n

For example, I leave the USB-C cable connected in the evening to keep the LED backlight on. Sometimes I need to read or think before typing, and then the keyboard turns off to save battery. This can be a bit annoying.<\/p>\n

Logitech has pretty good software for managing its devices. Installing Logi Options+ is optional, but it allows you to disable keys like CAPS LOCK and more. It also saves your settings to the Logitech cloud.<\/p>\n

Oddly enough, there's no room inside the keyboard to store the Logibolt connector. This is because Logitech markets this product as a desktop accessory, but I disagree. People will be using it as a portable keyboard, and the lack of space for the wireless receiver is a bit annoying. I'm pretty sure there's enough room inside for it.<\/p>\n

What I like most about the Logitech MX Mechanical Mini is its overall design and build quality. The Logitech Clicky keys provide excellent tactile feedback with a clicky feel and a shorter (but not too short) travel distance than traditional mechanical keys.<\/p>\n

The industrial design is very compact, comfortable to use, and looks neat on any desk. Logitech uses high-quality materials, and the product has a premium feel that many alternatives often lack. Furthermore, I would love to see a TKL version of this keyboard with a volume control. If you're looking for a compact keyboard, I highly recommend considering this option.<\/p>\n

MX Anywhere 3 Bear Review<\/h2>\n

I also tested the Logitech MX Anywhere 3 mouse (official page), the design of which is familiar to me, as I started using this product line when the original MX Anywhere was released. Back then, the key feature was the optical mouse's ability to track movements on glass surfaces, which was a real breakthrough for me, as I often find myself in hotels and conference rooms without a mousepad.<\/p>\n

This feature is still present and remains an undeniable advantage over any competitor that does not support glass surfaces.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The new MX Anywhere 3 mouse is quite lightweight, and I would use it as a travel mouse due to its compact size. However, keep in mind that Logitech doesn't consider it a "travel" mouse, and unlike its predecessors, you can't store the Logibolt receiver inside the mouse.<\/p>\n

Again, this needs to be fixed, and I can't think of any compelling reason to remove the receiver's internal storage other than to reduce component costs (??). I expect every possible convenience from an $80 mouse, so I won't be lenient about this.<\/p>\n

In addition, the mouse can connect to three devices simultaneously, which is very convenient since many people now have a work computer and a personal computer, or a combination of a desktop computer and a laptop.<\/p>\n

Logitech also offers the ability to switch between computers using a mouse and keyboard if you install Logi Options and use the Flow feature (yes, this is different from Logi Options Plus\u2026). Note: Flow may not work when using a VPN.<\/p>\n

The MX Anywhere MagSpeed scroll wheel also lets you switch between smooth and sloped scrolling using software. You can customize the haptic feedback for the perfect personalized experience.<\/p>\n

The USB-C port is for charging only. It's a nice improvement over the micro-USB port that Logitech still uses on some of its gaming keyboards, and now everyone has USB-C cables everywhere. It would also be nice to have a wired connection option for the same reasons I mentioned regarding the keyboard.<\/p>\n

Overall, the MX Anywhere 3's performance is excellent, and it's very accurate and reliable. It's a bit small for my hand size (I wear size M gloves), but it's a great travel mouse. My main mouse is a bit larger. Try it out at Best Buy and see how it fits.<\/p>\n

Finally, the MX series is optimized for office environments, minimizing or eliminating clicking noise. These devices are compatible with a variety of operating systems and platforms.<\/p>\n

Depending on the task at hand, you can fine-tune page scrolling or create macros to speed up repetitive tasks. For example, I configured the side mouse buttons for copy\/paste. Logitech's wireless technology is also optimized for environments where everyone uses wireless devices, so the company paid special attention to this.<\/p>\n
