Volcano surfing was invented in 2004 by Darin Webb, who surfed the black slopes of Cerro Negro volcano in Nicaragua on a mattress.<\/p>\n

Hoping to achieve higher speeds, he later rode his mini-fridge down a volcanic slope. Finally, he settled on a wood-and-plastic board that was a cross between a surfboard and a snowboard.<\/p>\n

Since then, outdoor enthusiasts have been trying their hand at this activity. While some high-risk enthusiasts try it on active volcanoes, we strongly recommend that you only ski on the slopes of inactive volcanoes.<\/p>\n
