Betty Gilpin has opened up about her birth scene in the new romantic comedy "Office Romance," starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein.
«"Honestly, I was really terrified the first time I saw the vaginal prosthesis," Gilpin told me at the film's Los Angeles premiere. "I had a nervous breakdown, and then I thought, 'Oh, but I'm holding the hand of the perfect working mom, Jennifer Lopez, so what could go wrong?'"»

Gilpin explained how it all happened.
«"My real legs were under the table, [I had] these prosthetic legs, and the puppeteer was standing at my real legs and pushing an animatronic baby out of my prosthetic vagina, and it was making a sound like [Gilpin makes a popping sound]… It was crazy," she said.
She continued: "The saddest moment was when the scene ended and everyone but the puppeteers were left in the room, because the only way to restart it was to go under anesthesia and pull out the artificial placenta – I don't think there's a placenta in the movie anymore – but put my hand through the prosthetic vagina that I'm still inserted into, pull the placenta back out, grab the umbilical cord and pull it back out, and then pull the baby back out, and then it was time to do it all over again.".
In "Office Romance," Lopez plays an airline CEO who falls in love with the company's in-house lawyer (Goldstein). Gilpin plays J.Lo's assistant.
The film was directed by Ol Parker and written by Goldstein. The cast also includes Edward James Olmos, Jodie Whittaker, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, Amy Sedaris, Jackie Sandler, and others.
The movie "Office Romance" is available on Netflix.
Gilpin will also appear in "Social Reckoning," Aaron Sorkin's sequel to "The Social Network." She plays the editor of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), who uncovered the story of Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen.
Gilpin joked that she's afraid to express her true feelings about Facebook because she's "afraid of getting a dart in the neck" if she says anything about them. She quipped, "I love lamps.".
