While she's unsure exactly how the Wayans family approached her, she says a February video interview with TMZ, in which she hinted at a possible role, "may have played a huge role." Spoilers ahead: Teyana Taylor joins Electra in the opening scene of the new film, also playing herself. The scene begins in a bar, where 35-year-old Taylor is talking on the phone while waiting for a date; in a direct parody of «Scream VI» In 2023, she then encounters a masked serial killer, Ghostface, in a nearby alley.

Surprised that 25 years have passed since her first appearance in "Scary Movie"« (She also played another character in "« Scary Movie 4 »" (2006), Electra calls the Wayans siblings "the best thing about the franchise." Marlon, Shawn, and the first film's director, Keenen Ivory Wayans, co-wrote the screenplay for the first film and its 2001 sequel; they were not subsequently invited to work on the third, fourth, and fifth installments.
