On Saturday, the studios and Minecraft announced the new official name in a joint Instagram post. "Ready for a new adventure? The world of #Minecraft is expanding again with film A Minecraft Movie Squared! »", reads part of the post.

Previously The Hollywood Reporter It was reported that Jared Hess, director of last year's film, would return to direct the video game adaptation and co-write the screenplay with Chris Galletta, one of the original screenwriters.
