Nine-time Grammy Award winner Anderson .Paak unveiled his new project K-POPS! (Music from and inspired by the film "K-POPS!") , a 17-track album filled with star-studded collaborations. Released Friday, May 29, K-POPS! features a host of top K-pop stars, as well as Korean R&B and hip-hop artists, including G-Dragon, aespa, Jay Park, LNGSHOT, NMIXX, DEAN, JO1, CHUNG HA, Crush, Kevin Wu (who provides vocals in «K-Pop Demon Hunters »" - Mystery Saja), SEVENTEEN's Joshua, ATEEZ's Hongjoong, and i-dle's Soyeon.
The album also features contributions from American rapper JID, Japanese boy band JO1, producer and songwriter Alyssia, and .Paak's son, Soul Rashid, making his musical debut. Dem Jointz served as executive producer, while .Paak oversaw the entire project and contributed extensively as a songwriter, producer, and performer.
The album was released in addition to a full-length film and .Paak's directorial debut. «K-POPS!» , which premiered today on Netflix. Full of love and playfulness, the film celebrates .Paak's African-American and Korean heritage. .Paak stars as BJ, a failed musician who lands a job as a drummer on a televised K-pop competition in South Korea. There, he discovers that one of the show's contestants is none other than his long-lost son, Tae-yong (played by Soul Rashid). The film follows the evolution of their father-son relationship as BJ realizes his trip to Korea may be more than just an attempt to revive his stalled music career.
In addition to starring and directing, .Paak also co-wrote and co-produced the family comedy, which premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival before opening nationwide on AMC earlier this year.

The album's release coincided with the debut of the music video for "Caution," a bass-heavy collaboration with K-pop group NMIXX. The project also includes two previously released singles: "Keychain," a collaboration with the powerful girl group aespa, released in February, and "Aftertaste," a rousing, drama-filled track featuring Korean alternative R&B artist DEAN. They previously collaborated on the single "Put My Hands On You" in 2015.

The album also includes a new version of .Paak and G-Dragon's 2025 single "Too Bad," which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Global 200 and No. 12 on the Global Excl. US chart, and won an MAMA award last year.
