Kathy Hilton will no longer serve as the grand marshal for the 2026 West Hollywood Pride Parade after her selection sparked backlash from some members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Just six days after WeHo Pride organizers announced on their website that 67-year-old Katie would become an honorary member of the Grand Marshal Icon team, they reversed themselves and announced that the position would no longer be filled.
«"After careful consideration, the City of West Hollywood, the WeHo Pride team, and Kathy Hilton have concluded that the 2026 WeHo Pride parade will not feature the honorary Grand Marshal award," the city, WeHo Pride team, and Hilton said in a joint statement released Wednesday, June 3.
«"The announcement of Kathy Hilton as the grand marshal for the 2026 WeHo Pride parade has resonated widely within our community. Over the past few days, community members have shared insightful feedback on the role and significance of the individuals honored in the Pride parade," the statement reads.
«"The City of West Hollywood is grateful for the respectful and sincere dialogue that has taken place. These conversations reflect the passion of the West Hollywood Pride community and highlight the importance of West Hollywood Pride continuing to honor the history, values, and diverse voices of the LGBTQ+ community.".
