A$AP Rocky announced plans to run for mayor of New York City and even says he wouldn't mind participating in a rap battle with Mayor Zoran Mamdani, who was a rapper in his past life.
Don't expect Mamdani to step into the ring and fight the Harlem native on equal terms, however, as the mayor has seemingly admitted that Rocky will outdo him in every way.

«"Mayor Mamdani is well aware that he will lose the rap battle to Lord Flacko," Deputy Press Secretary Jeremy M. Edwards said in a statement to Billboard on Wednesday (June 3).
However, Mayor Mamdani hopes to collaborate with A$AP Rocky in the future to make New York City a better and more accessible place for residents of the Big Apple.
«"Nevertheless, the Mayor welcomes any opportunity to collaborate with like-minded Knicks fans to make life in New York City more accessible so that every New Yorker can always strive for success and prosperity," Edwards continued, expanding on the acronym A$AP.
The friendly rivalry between Mamdani and Rocky began at the Met Gala, where Rocky was asked about the possibility of challenging the mayor. The topic came up again in an interview for VIBE magazine, dedicated to A$AP Rocky, which hit the cover earlier this week.
«"Mamdani won't mess with me," Rocky retorted. "Listen, I'm already going after his job, because in four years, I'll be Mayor Meyers. If he wants to fight, we can do that; if he wants to argue a little, we can do that, too.".
He even confirmed his plans to run for mayor. "I'm here to do something useful, to do humanitarian work for the city where I'm from. All that nonsense aside, I'm actually going to run for mayor. Stay tuned," Rocky promised.
Rocky appears to be serious about challenging former Mr. Cardamom in the 2029 New York City mayoral race. The Mob frontman is currently on his Don't Be Dumb World Tour, which kicks off in Philadelphia on Thursday (June 4), after which Rocky will return home to New York City to headline the Governors Ball in Queens on Sunday (June 7).
In January, A$AP Rocky returned with his first album in eight years. Don't Be Dumb , which topped the Billboard 200 chart.
