Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most famous artists of the Italian Renaissance. One of his most famous works is «The Last Supper» , depicting the last meal of Jesus Christ with his disciples before the crucifixion.
Da Vinci painted this masterpiece from 1494 to early 1498, creating over 30 versions of the work before completing the final version.
His life has become the subject of a new film. «Da Vinci» , directed by writer and producer Harrison Powell. As part of the film's efforts to connect with fans, Powell is helping create a photo mosaic featuring 1 million people depicting «The Last Supper» artist.

Inspired by the works of da Vinci himself, Powell recreated «The Last Supper» in the form of a mosaic of photo tiles sent by fans.
«"The idea came from studying the work of Leonardo da Vinci and realizing that one of history's greatest creative minds faced a challenge that many of us face today: finishing what we start," Powell said.
He added that da Vinci struggled to see projects through to completion and that despite his genius, he "struggled with doubts, distractions, and perfectionism, just like we all do.".
That's when the idea came to him.
«While working on the film, we began to wonder how people today could personally relate to this idea. The answer was «"Da Vinci's Mosaic" »" he said. "We turned «The Last Supper» into a million digital fragments and invited people to pick up one of them as a public statement of their participation in the global digital mosaic. What began as a marketing idea for a film has evolved into something much larger—a global participatory project grounded in creativity, responsibility, and perseverance.".
The mosaic is assembled digitally as individual tiles are selected, gradually revealing the full image over time and creating an interactive experience for people around the world.
«For hundreds of years people have admired The Last Supper "This project gives people the opportunity to peer inside the story and help unravel it together," Powell said. "At a time when much online activity feels isolating or disposable, it's exciting to see how people around the world are contributing to a shared creative experience that continues to grow every day.".

Powell's film offers a new approach to the life of an artist.
«"We often focus on his genius, but what interests me most is his humanity," Powell said. "He struggled. He doubted himself. He procrastinated. He abandoned projects. He worried he wasn't doing enough.".
Da Vinci was born in 1452 in Italy, where, in addition to painting (his other most famous work is «Mona Lisa »"), he was an architect, sculptor, draftsman, and engineer. He is the embodiment of a "Renaissance man.".
He was also human, and Powell hopes audiences can see that side of him, despite his genius.
«"The main takeaway isn't that we should all become da Vinci," he said. "It's that even one of history's greatest artists had to contend with the same fears and obstacles that many of us face today. Great works are created not because someone is perfect, but because they keep moving forward.".
