Bruce Springsteen has criticized President Donald Trump and the U.S. Department of Justice for a fund that is expected to allocate nearly $1.8 billion, including to those who participated in the infamous January 6 Capitol riots.
Months after the sixth anniversary of the insurrection in which protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol to protest the election of former President Joe Biden, Springsteen expressed disappointment in the foundation's work during a recent concert in Washington.
The $1.776 billion "anti-gun violence" fund is intended for distribution to alleged "targets" who claim to have suffered as "victims of legal warfare and gun violence." Many participants in the January 6th riots are already expecting payments from this fund, and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has refused to rule out such a possibility.
A federal judge has stayed the fund's creation, and a hearing is scheduled for June 12 to determine whether the stay should be extended.

During a concert in Washington on Wednesday (May 27), Springsteen said President Trump wants to "compensate and reward the people who attacked the Capitol.".
«"They attacked our democracy. On January 6th, they attacked our police officers. This is an outrageous American crime, and it's happening right now. Only the American people can stop this American tragedy," the 20-time Grammy Award winner continued.
Springsteen concluded, "Nobody's coming to save us.".
«"We have to do it ourselves," he said. "Let them hear you in the damn White House!"»
The rock musician's setlists were dominated by political songs, and throughout his American "Land of Hope and Dreams" tour, he delivered anti-Trump speeches. In addition to performing his long-standing repertoire live, including a new song against ICE ("Streets of Minneapolis"), the musician also covered Edwin Starr's "War" and Bob Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom." The tour concludes on Saturday (May 30) in Philadelphia.
