Christina Aguilera performed one of her favorite songs with passion Barack Obama at the opening of his Presidential Center on Chicago's South Side on Thursday, June 18.
Admiring her vocal talent, fans on social media showered her with praise, with some even suggesting that her music career could have been much bigger than it currently is.
Aguilera recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of her Christmas album, My Kind of Christmas, with a daring performance at the Eiffel Tower, later admitting it was "terrifying" because she's afraid of heights.

Christina Aguilera made a splash with her soulful rendition of one of Barack Obama's favorite songs, "What a Wonderful World," at the grand opening of the Presidential Center in Chicago on Thursday, June 18.
Introducing the singer on stage, Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett noted that when they first approached the singer with the offer to perform the American hit, which Louis Armstrong first recorded in 1967, Aguilera admitted that she had never sung it in public and would need to make some adjustments for the occasion.
«"When we asked her to sing one of [former] President Obama's favorite songs, she told us, 'Well, I've never sung that in public before,'" Jarrett said when introducing Aguilera, as reported by PEOPLE. "But she came up with a new arrangement just for this occasion, and we're so grateful.".
The 45-year-old singer then captivated the audience with her vocal prowess, earning a standing ovation from President Obama and his wife, Michelle.

Aguilera's performance was so impressive that fans took to social media to discuss why she hasn't had an even more successful career.
«"I'll never understand why Christina isn't more famous; she's such a natural talent," one Reddit user wrote, while another noted that she "was probably the most popular you could ever be," before launching into a long rant about how she "got scared" when her recent projects didn't live up to expectations, causing her to "lose motivation.".
Someone else said, "I think this is the only way Christina would agree to sing this song, with or without a full arrangement. She loves adding extra vocal hooks; that's probably what makes covers interesting for her. Glad she likes it! Great voice, as always.".
However, others felt the changes she made were excessive and detracted from the original song.
One person said, "Every word has a riff or lick! A simple song is overcomplicated with unnecessary vocal flourishes. Just because you can doesn't mean you should, Christina.".
Obama burst into tears as Michelle praised his legacy.
The $850 million, 19-acre campus in Jackson Park officially opened on Thursday. The former president and his wife held a private opening ceremony at John Lewis Plaza, attended by a distinguished group of guests, including former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, and Steven Spielberg.
In videos posted on social media, Michelle moved former President Obama to tears as she praised him for not cracking under pressure during his two years in office.
The ceremony also featured performances by Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Bono and The Edge of U2, Eddie Vedder, Marc Anthony, Thames, Common, Marsai Martin and The Roots.
The center, which officially opened to the public on Friday, June 19, includes an eight-story tower, a fitness center, a branch of the Chicago Public Library, event space, a sports center, and open spaces.
Aguilera says performing at the Eiffel Tower scared her to death.
Despite leading a relatively private life recently, Aguilera continues to actively perform musical concerts around the world. In December, she celebrated the 25th anniversary of her Christmas album, "My Kind of Christmas," with a stunning concert film shot at the Eiffel Tower in France.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show later that month, she admitted the experience was terrifying.
«"Singing at the top of the Eiffel Tower, that was…" she began. "I'm terrified of heights. I don't even ride the Ferris wheel because I'm so afraid of heights. I can ride a roller coaster, but don't make me stand still in the air and look down.".
«"I was literally terrified," she continued. "There was a point where you just keep going up and up, and I don't like elevators either. So it was a double whammy. It's a confined space, and we're going up, and everything is visible… it's like you're open, you can see everything going up.".
«"And then there was this moment when the guy in the elevator taking us suddenly stopped. He said, 'This isn't normal.' And I replied, 'What do you mean, this isn't normal?'" she said.
Christina Aguilera has received an invitation to a major British festival.
Aguilera will perform her only UK concert at HeritageLive in Sandringham in 2026, alongside Craig David, Blue and more.
The singer, known for her hit "Beautiful," is the final headliner of the festival, which runs from August 19 to 23.
Other headliners announced include Janet Jackson, performing on August 19; Lionel Richie, performing on August 20; Ricky Martin, performing on August 22; and Eric Clapton, performing on August 23.
Aguilera will headline the festival at the Norfolk estate on Friday, August 21.
