Star reality show "The Secret Life of Mormon Wives"« Taylor Frankie Paul spoke out after a judge ruled she had served her three-year probation period.
During a court hearing on August 7, a judge ruled that the 32-year-old woman had successfully completed three years of probation as part of a plea deal struck after her arrest in 2023.
Paul was arrested in 2023 for a domestic violence incident, video of which was later released in March of this year. TMZ . The video showed Paul attacking his ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen , while her five-year-old daughter was in the room. It was this incident that forced ABC to cancel the upcoming season. show "Bachelorette"« with the participation of Paul.
Edition The Independent The TV personality and influencer pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, which meant that if she complied with the terms of the plea deal, the charge would be dropped. She also faced other charges, including domestic violence in the presence of a child, which were dismissed with a restraining order.
Although the reality TV star didn't attend the hearing, she posted about it on Instagram. "Three years of probation completed. All my [probation officers] said it was one of the longest sentences they'd seen for a first offense," she wrote.
Paul said she "didn't even know what [domestic violence] was before," adding: "Unfortunately, many will experience it, as many have already.".
«"I don't care whether you think I'm a villain or a victim. This whole thing, coming to light in such a vicious and vindictive way, has been a living hell, and if I didn't have the support I have, I don't think I would have made it through," she wrote in a social media post.
She couldn't resist poking fun at her detractors (and, presumably, her ex). "But these same people not only see that they failed to destroy me, but they also liberated me. You can see who's educated and who's not... it was done by the book, and millions of people watched.".
After her participation in the show «The Bachelorette» was suspended, a representative for the star said she had been "silently subjected to severe psychological and physical abuse, as well as threats of retaliation" and was "finally gathering the strength to face her accuser.".
Paul and Mortensen became embroiled in a lengthy legal battle after Utah police opened two domestic violence investigations in February of this year.
Mortensen, with whom she has a two-year-old son, said in his statement that he had "become accustomed to these baseless allegations about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny.".
In March, her ex-husband filed for a restraining order against the MomTok star, and a few weeks later, she filed for one herself. Both orders were granted for three years at a court hearing on April 30.
The couple also filed a custody battle for their son, Ever. Last month, a judge officially granted Paul the right to alternate weekends with their son. On July 13, a petition was filed in juvenile court requesting guardianship and representation for the reality TV star's children.
«"I'll show you both the ugly and the beautiful," she wrote on social media at the time. "I'm not claiming to be 'Mother of the Year' for my flaws. I also have the right to stand up for myself and share my life in context.".
