Brooke Shields has revealed how fans tried to cut off strands of her hair after the release of her "Pretty Baby" music video.

Brooke Shields talks about fans' reactions to her 1978 film «"Gorgeous", in which she played an 11-year-old prostitute.

On Monday, June 1st, in the podcast episode The Bossticks Shields, 61, said the film was her "first big project.".

«"It was a very challenging shoot because we were in New Orleans for almost five months, it was a period piece, and the hours were very long, plus it was in the summer," Shields recalls. "So I only worked for three months, and then I had to work weekends to keep up with school.".

But, as Shields noted, after the film brought her worldwide fame, the attention on her became especially intense.

«"Then we went to the Cannes Film Festival with the film. And there was this real fuss about me, crowds of people trying to cut my hair, it was crazy," Shields recalled, adding that they "wanted to take a piece of her.".

«"It was ridiculous," she added. "And my mom and I said, 'No, never again. No more movies for us. Go back to modeling.'".

Shields added that the film was "controversial," but her mother, Teri, who died in 2012 and managed her daughter's career until she was 20, didn't initially think it would be controversial.

«"It was the French director's first American film," she said. "And we were so proud because my mom always took me to see Fellini films and all these arthouse films. We watched Disney cartoons, too, but she'd been taking me to real arthouse films since I was a kid. And so I developed an understanding of cinema, and I was so happy to be part of a truly cinematic film, and then it just ruined our whole lives, and we refused to do anything for years.".

Shields subsequently starred in the film «Blue Lagoon» 1980, after which she briefly left Hollywood to focus on her education, graduating from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature in 1987. She has since returned to the screen, appearing in a variety of films, from «Running Free» to «Midnight Meat Train» , as well as on TV shows, including «Suddenly Susan» , «Lipstick Jungle» и «"You're killing me"» on Acorn TV.
