ABC is developing the legal drama "Holding Court" from Alfredo Barrios Jr. and Ross Fineman.

EXCLUSIVE : After a string of successful, character-driven, light crime procedurals such as «"Rookie," "High Potential," "Will Trent"» и «RJ Decker, ABC plans to extend this formula to the legal genre. The network is developing a series «Holding Court, written and executive produced by Alfredo Barrios Jr. ( «Hotel Cocaine» ), and executive produced by Ross Fineman of Fineman Entertainment ( «Lincoln for the Lawyer» ).

«Holding Court» is an hour-long, character-driven tragicomedy that tells the story of a brilliant, stubborn, yet erudite paralegal who teams up with a charismatic, seasoned attorney who has just passed the bar exam to help run her father's law firm after his death.

The plot is somewhat reminiscent of the classic comedy detective series "Detective Agency" «"Moonlight"» »": A woman owns a company—a law firm or a private detective agency—and teams up with a charismatic man to run it.

In this project, Barrios Jr. draws on his experience: he was educated at Harvard Law School and spent five years as a corporate lawyer before turning to writing. He has worked on a number of legal dramas, including «First Monday, The Lion's Den, Law & Order, Just Legal, Close to Home »" And «"Justice".

This marks Fineman's return to ABC, where he served as executive producer on the David E. Kelley drama series «"Big Sky".
