EXCLUSIVE : After a string of successful, character-driven, light crime procedurals such as «"Rookie," "High Potential," "Will Trent"» и «RJ Decker, ABC plans to extend this formula to the legal genre. The network is developing a series «Holding Court, written and executive produced by Alfredo Barrios Jr. ( «Hotel Cocaine» ), and executive produced by Ross Fineman of Fineman Entertainment ( «Lincoln for the Lawyer» ).
«Holding Court» is an hour-long, character-driven tragicomedy that tells the story of a brilliant, stubborn, yet erudite paralegal who teams up with a charismatic, seasoned attorney who has just passed the bar exam to help run her father's law firm after his death.

In this project, Barrios Jr. draws on his experience: he was educated at Harvard Law School and spent five years as a corporate lawyer before turning to writing. This marks Fineman's return to ABC, where he served as executive producer on the David E. Kelley drama series «"Big Sky". He is also an executive producer on the Netflix series Kelly «Lincoln for the Lawyer, based on the books by Michael Connelly, as well as the latest film adaptation of Connelly's books, "« Welcome to Catalina"» , which is in development at HBO Max.
Barrios Jr. starred in the series «Burn Notice» throughout all seven seasons on the USA channel, rising to the position of executive producer. He was the showrunner and executive producer of the drama «Six» on the History Channel, executive producer of the series «Hotel Cocaine» on Epix, as well as a co-executive producer of the series «Shelter » on Prime Video and « Magnum PI" on CBS. Barrios Jr. made his feature film debut with the film «Bull Run» 2024 starring Tom Blythe. He is repped by CAA, The Shuman Co., and Felker McGinnis & Ryan.
