Amazon is reorganizing its documentary production team, consolidating its divisions. Justin Dudek, MGM Alternative's senior vice president of physical media production, will lead the team.
According to changes announced Friday by Jenn Levy, head of non-fiction and documentary programming, Dudek will oversee all non-fiction, documentary, and MGM Alternative production teams, serving as "the sole executive responsible for all non-fiction programming," according to a memo from Levy to employees. The changes will take effect Monday, June 8.
«As we continue to develop our new documentary film initiative, a key priority is to create a unified documentary production organization that will bring together MGM’s documentary, documentary, and alternative film productions under one leader—streamlining processes, implementing shared best practices, and creating an even more efficient system as our portfolio expands,» Levy said in a memo to employees.
A memo to staff outlined several changes to the reporting structure: Eugene Caldwell of Amazon MGM Studios will now report to Dudek, and the documentary post-production team will continue to report to Mark Hoerr. The reporting structure for production management on "Big Fish" and "Evolution" will also remain unchanged.
The reorganization comes just months after Levy, previously president of production company 32 Flavors, joined Amazon MGM Studios in January as head of non-fiction and documentary television. In her new role, she oversees Amazon MGM Unscripted, MGM Alternative, Big Fish Entertainment, and Evolution Media.
As Senior Vice President of Physical Production at MGM Alternative, Dudek oversees the production of competition series, game shows, documentaries, and branded content for franchises such as Survivor, The Voice, Shark Tank, and The Real Housewives. Dudek also played a key role in MGM Alternative's transition to Amazon Studios systems following the company's acquisition.
«His extensive experience working across multiple formats and platforms, coupled with his deep understanding of how we operate, makes him the perfect choice to lead this close-knit team,» Levy said of Dudek.
