Suzuki SX4 2018-2019: Crossover or SUV?

The Suzuki SX4 crossover SUV was first unveiled to the public at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. Teaming up with the Italian Fiat group, the Japanese company succeeded in creating a new sports SUV based on the existing Suzuki Swift. Built on the platform of its predecessor, the SX4 resembles it only externally. In all other respects, it differs from its predecessor.

In 2013, the public was once again delighted with the release of a new generation of the SUV. This time, it wasn't a compact crossover, but a fully fledged midsize SUV, facing serious competition in the market. Naturally, the upgraded class was reflected in the car's price, but even price didn't significantly impact demand.

The dimensions of the company's largest SUV remain unchanged and are: body length - 4300 mm, width - 1785 mm, ground clearance - 180 mm.

All changes to the Suzuki SX7

The update affected literally every aspect of the car, with particular changes made to the exterior. The developers decided to break away from the familiar look, eliminating the laconic lines and soft transitions. The new car now looks much more masculine than the previous version.

Just look at a passing SUV and you'll see a wild beast glaring menacingly. The massive engine bay, flanked by two menacing eyes, the LED headlights, and the wide grille create an imposing appearance.

Viewed from the side, the car's massive wheel arches, stylish alloy wheels, and black stripe running along the body immediately catch the eye. Furthermore, the glass area has been enlarged. The rear section remains virtually unchanged.

Interior decoration

To take the car to the next level, designers and engineers had to work hard on the interior of the Suzuki SX4 crossover. The first thing that changed was a different approach to the selection of trim materials. The ergonomics of the interior have also been significantly improved; every element is conveniently located, eliminating the need to reach out to operate switches.

The new 7-inch multimedia system screen is conveniently located on the center console. The cabin has noticeably increased space, ensuring even larger passengers will feel comfortable. The steering wheel, designed to assist with control, features a robust cluster with various buttons.

Technical part

There were some changes to the engine department. The engine lineup has been reduced, and the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine has been removed. The base model still features a 112-horsepower turbocharged gasoline engine. A 120-horsepower diesel engine is also available instead.
