Bill O'Reilly criticizes LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman for financing a civil lawsuit E. Jean Carroll against the president Donald Trump on charges of sexual assault, calling him a "weirdo" who invested millions of dollars in a trumped-up case.
On Monday, O'Reilly lashed out at Hoffman during a segment on his YouTube show. The former Fox News host aired a clip of Hoffman, a major Democratic Party donor, describing how he financed Carroll's 2023 lawsuit.
«"My team looked into it and decided that her voice needed to be heard," Hoffman said at the time.
O'Reilly was dismissive of this explanation.
«"Okay, sure. How many more votes have you funded with $7 million, you grumps?" O'Reilly said. "This guy is the worst, he's not the worst, but he's in the top five.".
O'Reilly said he believed Hoffman's money funded Carroll's "false accusations" against Trump.
He then mocked Carroll's lawyers for claiming a recent "refresher" in her memory and that she now admits that Hoffman helped fund her lawsuit, even though in a 2022 deposition, she claimed no one else paid for it. This claim is now under investigation by the Justice Department, and the probe is focused on whether Carroll committed perjury.
Carroll accused the president of raping her in a New York City department store in the mid-1990s, a charge Trump repeatedly denied. Her civil lawsuits against Trump for sexual assault and defamation resulted in her being awarded approximately $90 million.
O'Reilly said he had no intention of returning to the case, but considered Carroll's claims "absurd" and "insane.".
«"I know Trump," O'Reilly said. "And I know the world E. Jean Carroll lives in, and I know exactly what happened there.".
