The moment occurred Sunday night during the band's performance at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater as part of their Southern Hospitality Tour. According to TMZ, the chanting began after the band's mascot, a raven dressed as Uncle Sam, appeared on the screen behind the band, which some fans interpreted as a patriotic gesture.
The show continued, but video footage from the scene quickly moved the shootout beyond the amphitheater.
The chant began even before the song "She Talks to Angels.".
According to TMZ, the band was preparing to perform "She Talks to Angels" when the audience began chanting "USA." Robinson responded from the stage with a sarcastic remark, thanking the crowd for the "geography lesson.".
The conflict escalated as the chanting continued. Robinson then told the crowd he didn't know what they could be proud of "right now"—a remark that quickly changed the mood in the room.
