Maddox Jolie-Pitt follows in the footsteps of his brothers and sisters by abandoning his father's surname, Brad Pitt .
According to the report Daily Mail On Thursday, May 28, 24-year-old Maddox officially filed documents to legally change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie. He cited "personal circumstances" as the reason for the request.
Maddox stopped using his last name informally earlier this year and in the end credits of his mother's film, Angelina Jolie , «Couture» was listed simply as Maddox Jolie.
His younger sister, Awl , 20, was the first of Maddox's siblings to formally change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie on her 18th birthday in May 2024.
Later that year, 21-year-old Zahara introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie instead of Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt when she joined a sorority at Spelman College.

Maddox's decision comes after years of reports of tension between him and his father.
Maddox and 62-year-old Brad have had a rocky relationship for years. In 2022, a source reported In Touch publication , that the star of the film «Ocean's Eleven »" was "very upset" about their breakup because they "had a special connection" when Maddox was younger.
«"He sent him a 21st birthday present and a touching note in a last-ditch effort to make peace, but never received a response," a source said at the time. "Brad misses Maddox terribly and was really hoping to mend their relationship, but he's reached a dead end.".
Brad and Angelina, 50, separated after two years of marriage in 2016, but their divorce wasn't finalized until 2024. The former couple was also embroiled in a years-long legal battle over their French winery, Chateau Miraval. Earlier this week, another source reported In Touch publication , that their children continue to stand firmly by their mother amid the ongoing dispute.
«"They have an 'all for one' mentality," a source said on Thursday, May 28. "They don't want their mom or anyone else in the family to ever experience financial hardship.".
