Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman didn't have to do a backflip to find a dress for teammate Madison Kocian's May 2026 wedding—she simply borrowed one from her mom's closet. "My mom bought this dress about 20 years ago," Raisman wrote on Instagram, accompanying a photo of her first outfit. "She wore it to my cousin's bat mitzvah. About 20 years later, I wore it to @madison_kocian's wedding.".

On December 10th, while attending a Lakers game with her father, the teenager was spotted wearing burgundy Isabel Marant wedge sneakers, popular among stars like her mother in the 2010s, and fans quickly drew a parallel. Twenty years ago, Catherine Zeta-Jones wore a little black dress with floral appliqués to her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. And in October 2025, her daughter echoed her mother's blush and tousled hairstyle, appearing in the same dress at the PAC NYC Icons of Culture Gala with her father, Michael Douglas.
And Carys certainly enjoys buying the pieces her mother chose for the red carpet in years past—perhaps even to an extent.
«"I love vintage clothes. But I'm not really into buying them. I'm not really into fast fashion, just for sustainability reasons, so I feel really lucky to have such a wonderful wardrobe to choose from," she told PEOPLE at the event, adding with a laugh, "[My mom] asks, 'Is that my bag?' And I'm like, 'I don't know. I don't think so.'".

Early 2000s fashion is making a comeback, and Eva Amurri is making the most of it, borrowing the sheer Donna Karan gown her mother, Susan Sarandon, wore to the 2003 Oscars for the Metropolitan Opera's opening gala in September 2024. After Eva posted a TikTok video last year of herself shopping her mother's closet, it was only a matter of time before the best looks from Sarandon's archive found new life on the red carpet.

In a September 2024 interview with PEOPLE magazine, Alba explained how the girls ended up wearing her clothes.
«"It was my idea because I didn't want to buy them dresses for just one night, you know? I said, 'Would you wear these dresses? I picked them out. I think they'll look really nice on you, but if you don't like them, [that's okay],'" she recalled. "I think they both thought they looked better on them—which, by the way, they do. It's true.".
