New court documents shed light on the role Anna Duggar in her husband's last attempt Josh Duggar appeal the conviction and showed that she helped prepare documents related to the appeal before a federal judge ultimately rejected it.
According to documents obtained by the publication Us Weekly On Tuesday, June 2, Josh, 38, and Anna, 37, exchanged drafts of the petition by mail as he tried to appeal his conviction from prison.
Josh, convicted in 2021 of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, either handwrote or typed portions of the document before sending them to Anna, who then copied the materials onto her computer and returned them to him for review and signature.
The documents surfaced during the efforts of a former reality show participant «"19 children and more »" to convince the court that he filed the motion before the deadline. He argued that the documents should be considered timely filed under the prison mail rule, which protects documents mailed by inmates before the deadline.
Although Josh claimed he had mailed the documents before the deadline, the court insisted that the postmarks were after the date he had indicated when he mailed them.
