After exactly six decades as a musician, the Slade member Dave Hill will finally release his first solo album in 2026. Later this year, the founder of the English rock band Slade and its longtime guitarist Hill will release their debut album Dirty Foot Lane .
The album is scheduled for release in October of this year. Hill's representatives, as reported Louder , described the album as "a rich autobiographical collection of songs reflecting a lifetime of music, creativity, and personal discovery." It will be Hill's first solo album, despite having been working as a musician since 1966.
Hill also shared his thoughts on the long-awaited release, stating, "I've always been goal-oriented. And I'm still looking for new challenges. This album is part of that journey.".
He collaborated with several interesting people on the project, including John Berry , who joined Slade in 2003 as vocalist and bassist. In the making Dirty Foot Lane the producer also took part Django Holder , the son of one of the founders of Slade, Noddy Holder , who left the group in 1992.
At the end of 2025, in an interview Contact Music Hill spoke about his personal album, offering a bit more detail on what fans can expect from the new music. He told the publication, "It's true stories, a little bit country, not Slade, but there's some rock in it.".
He continued by sharing details about specific songs and who inspired them, saying: "There are songs written about my mother, I wrote a song for Slade. It's a tribute to Noddy, To Jim [Lee] и To Don [Powell] , it's called "Thanks for the Good Times," it's a great song.".

The album will be largely autobiographical, and the title is inspired by a real place where Hill used to take his children to play in haystacks. Hill seems very pleased with the result, saying Contact Music: «I’m really happy, I feel like now there’s only one person to please – me.».
But even from that perspective, Hill said many music fans would enjoy the release: "It's a memory album, but I think a lot of people will enjoy it - not just Slade fans, but a lot of other people.".
An official release date, other than October, has not yet been confirmed. Fans should stay tuned for updates and announcements in the near future.
