On Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at not one, but two reality TV veterans turned politicians: "Celebrity Apprentice" host Donald Trump once again lashed out at late-night talk shows, and former "The Hills" contestant Spencer Pratt prepared to announce the results of the Los Angeles mayoral election.
«"Here in California, where the L.A. gubernatorial and mayoral races are fiercely competitive, I don't recall ever seeing an election like this where no one is eager to vote for either candidate," explained the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host. "So, in California, we have what's called a 'jungle primary' for mayor and governor, which sounds more fun than it is. All the candidates, regardless of party affiliation, compete for votes in one big precinct, and then, if someone doesn't get more than 50%, the top two 'eat' the third-place finisher.".
«The most interesting race is for mayor of Los Angeles. Polls show it’s a three-way race: Karen Bass, Nitya Raman, and Spencer Pratt. Yes, that guy from «The Hills.» He yells a lot. He’s upset because, you know, he’s never had a job, and he wants one, and he’d like to be mayor,» Kimmel added. «If Spencer Pratt wins, then either we’re getting a lot dumber, or we might have to accept that crystals do work. They have magic… Our city needs leadership. We all agree on that. But Spencer Pratt? It’s like your boat is sinking, and you thought adding a rattlesnake would help. It won’t.».
The ABC comedian then linked Pratt's political ambitions to those of President Trump, who has once again threatened the remaining late-night talk shows on social media following the cancellation of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.".
«"I guess you should face the facts before voting for a reality TV candidate. But our first reality TV president is doing just fine," Kimmel noted. "He's posting nonsense nonsense on his social media pages nonstop. According to a Daily Beast analysis, Donald Trump posted 861 messages on Truth Social last month, an average of 27 times a day. He's now posting more than once an hour, 24/7.".
«"Last night, Repost Malone posted 47 times in 31 minutes, including another threat against late-night talk show hosts," he continued. "He wrote, 'Over the past two weeks, I've eliminated numerous bad political leaders and pundits, including Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, the lightweight Congressman Thomas Massie, Brad Raffensperger of Georgia, the truly stupid Stephen Colbert of CBS, and others. My two-week tally is 38-point-zero, with three more lame late-night talk show hosts to go.'".
«"'Limpy Late Night Talk Show Host.' I'm not sure I'd call us limping when you have such thick ankles, dear," Kimmel quipped. "Shouldn't the President of the United States be focusing on more important things, like finding a replacement for Milli Vanilli to perform at Coachella instead of Hella on the Fourth of July?"„
«"I think Captain Kangaroo might be upset because our show won a Peabody Award on Sunday. I wasn't going to mention it because I'm not him, but we won a Peabody Award on Sunday, and it wasn't a FIFA Peabody Award. It was a real award," he recounted. "It's a great honor for us. It's a prestigious award. And while we've gotten a lot of positive feedback, the fact that we won it seems to have upset both the president and his cronies at Fox News.".
