Executive DJ: BET Announces First-Ever Board of Directors Featuring Queen Latifah, LL Cool J and More.

For the first time in its 46-year history, BET has formed an advisory board. The board was created under the leadership of BET's president. Louis Carr and will perform the functions of a strategic and cultural body.

The new advisory board includes Bob Johnson (BET founder), Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, Troy Vincent (Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the National Football League), Raymond J. McGuire (President of Lazard) and George Cheeks (Chairman of Paramount's Television Media Council). Together, the council members will help ensure BET remains at the intersection of media, society, and culture.

According to a press release, the new board of directors will "serve as a strategic and cultural advisory body, offering valuable insights, perspective, and accountability as BET expands its influence and continues to champion the voices and stories that move culture forward.".

«"BET has always been more than just a platform," Carr said in a statement. "It is a cultural institution with a responsibility to serve, reflect, and advance our community. As we enter this new chapter, this Council brings together leaders whose influence, perspective, and integrity will help us continue to fulfill that responsibility as we shape the future.".

BET remains owned by Paramount. While Paramount Global has offered the brand to various companies, Paramount CEO Skydance David Ellison stated that it has no plans to sell it. BET also manages the FAST channels, produces digital content, and organizes events.

For the past 45 years, BET has remained a cultural institution for the African-American community. BET Media Group, a division of Paramount, owns BET, BET Her, BET Studios, and VH1, as well as FAST channels, including BET Tyler Perry Comedy, BET Tyler Perry Drama, BET Comedy Movies, BET Cinema, and BET Throwbacks.

Richard Bush (Adams and Reese)

BMI announces a number of promotions.

BMI has announced a number of promotions across its creative and corporate communications teams at its New York headquarters, including: John Ellwood appointed vice president of creative; Deirdre Chadwick — Assistant to the Vice President for Creative Affairs (Classical and Jazz Music); Jeff Gilligan — Assistant Vice President, Creative Director; and Jody Thomas — Assistant to the Vice President for Corporate and Media Relations.

Sara Yazdani launches YD Media

Publicist Sara Yazadani founded YD Media , a boutique PR agency specializing in public relations and communications for clients in the entertainment, music, and media industries. Cameron joins Sound Royalties from PPL, the UK-based copyright protection organisation for performers and recordings, where she served as Membership and Development Manager. In her new role, she will facilitate the implementation of Sound Royalties' funding model in the UK market.

Katherine Palmer will take over as executive director of the Music Making Museum beginning in the summer of 2026, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) announced. This announcement coincides with the departure Carolyn Grant , who has served as the museum's executive director since its founding in 2000.

Palmer is currently finishing up her tenure as Senior Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville.

Loessie joined Provident Entertainment in 2022 as Chief Marketing Officer. His portfolio includes Brandon Lake, Matthew West, Lianne Crawford, Zach Williams, KB, Lizzie Morgan, Tenroc, Madison Watkins, Taylor Hill, Patrick Mayberry, and Molly Kate Kaestner.
