In a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan praised the upcoming UFC Freedom 250 event, scheduled to take place on the White House lawn on June 14—Trump's 80th birthday. Speaking with the UFC fighter Daniel Rodriguez Rogan called the spectacle uniquely American, despite ongoing criticism.

«"Dude, this is going to be huge," Rodriguez told Rogan.

Rogan agreed. "It's so funny to watch people freak out about it, you know, in different ways," the podcast host said. "Some people freak out because they don't like the political situation in this country, some people freak out because they think it's a waste of money. 'Why are they spending so much money? The country's in debt. We're in trouble. Why are we fighting?' And others are like, 'Hell yeah!'"«

«"There's nothing more American than a UFC fight on the White House lawn. It's so American. It's so Trumpian. It's just crazy," he continued.

Rogan also predicted the event would be "crazy," though he reiterated his concerns about holding championship fights outdoors.

His new comments mark a sharp reversal from his remarks on May 28, when he criticized the concept and questioned the wisdom of staging fights outside the ring.

«"I just don't think a world title fight should be held in an uncontrolled environment. I think it should be held in an air-conditioned arena," Rogan said at the time. "It should be a controlled environment—just like you wouldn't ask them to play a World Championship basketball game outside in the sun. That would be crazy... You're playing in a goddamn air-conditioned arena, and that's how it should be. Build a goddamn roof.".

Despite these concerns, a few days later, Rogan seemed more enthusiastic about the event, praising Trump for his support of unconventional ideas. "I don't like the idea of a war with Iran, but I like this one," Rogan said of the UFC event.

The White House is playing defense.

The White House also defended the event from critics who questioned its cost and symbolic significance.

«"Democrats oppose anything that celebrates the greatness of our country because they are losers who think America is 'last,'" the White House press secretary said. Davis Ingle in the statement for Newsweek . "This will be one of the greatest and most historic sporting events in history, and President Trump's hosting it at the White House is a testament to his commitment to marking America's momentous 250th anniversary.".
