DreamWorks, take note! John Lithgow is ready for a new fairy tale starring his character. from Shrek« , Lord Farquaad.
The actor who voiced the scheming and diminutive ruler in the first film was on air Thursday. The Tonight Show« revealed that he wouldn't mind returning to the role in a potential prequel, given—spoiler alert—that his character doesn't survive in the end.
«"Unfortunately, there never were any sequels because I got eaten by a dragon in the very first one," Lithgow explained to host Jimmy Fallon. "Everyone else made millions doing it for five minutes.".

Lord Farquaad is actually eaten by a dragon during his wedding to Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) at the end of the first «Shrek» . When Fallon pitched the idea of a prequel focusing on Farquaad's early years, Lithgow replied, "I'm available.".
And it doesn't necessarily have to be a sequel! Lord Farquaad has appeared in other spin-offs. «Shrek» in the years since he became a little wedding snack. He can be seen singing the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" from the Dragon's Stomach in the 2001 short film «Shrek in the Swamp: Karaoke Party» , and he also appears as a ghost on the ride «Shrek 4D» at Universal Studios.
The Emmy Award-winning actor also took a moment to reflect on his experience working on the film and the unique way in which series star and co-director Conrad Vernon unexpectedly landed the role of the Gingerbread Man.
«"There was one of the writers there who was giving me all the lines, and I was acting alongside him, and he played the Gingerbread Man the best he could," Lithgow said, referring to Vernon. "They searched for a long time for the right Gingerbread Man, and they finally hired him!"»
He continued jokingly: «And he became the Gingerbread Man for about five movies. about Shrek "And me? That damn dragon ate me!"»

Vernon did much more than just voice the Gingerbread Man. He co-directed the 2004 sequel and is set to return as co-director, along with Walt Dohrn, for the upcoming fifth installment, which hits theaters on June 30, 2027.
Not only will the sequel see the return of series stars Diaz, Mike Myers (Shrek), and Eddie Murphy (Donkey), but it will also focus on Fiona and Shrek's children, played by Zendaya, Marcello Hernandez, and Skyler Gisondo.
