«"It's a very important question," Grant, whose work has been exhibited in galleries across the country, told PEOPLE. "I would say all painting is autobiographical, although perhaps even in abstract art it doesn't feel like there's a big narrative, but I can definitely say my paintings are becoming more joyful.".
«"It's undeniable," she added, speaking of the positive vibe her love for Reeves brings to her work. "I have to admit that.".
The star of the film «John Wick» , for his part, gave a more reserved response, admitting: «I don’t know if that happened.».
Grant and Reeves have been in a romantic relationship since 2019. Their acquaintance began on a professional level with a book «Ode to Happiness» , which Reeves wrote and Grant illustrated. They founded a publishing house together and publicly announced their relationship two years later.
At the MOCA gala, which they attended together in 2024, the couple emphasized how important it is to them not only to create art but also to support others who create and promote it. This year's recipients include two artists, Kara Walker and Paul McCarthy, as well as philanthropist Eugenio López Alonso, a longtime member of the MOCA board of trustees.
«We’re here to support MOCA because we love the museum, and [former MOMA senior curator] Alma Ruiz organized my first solo show there in 2007, so I have a long history of visiting the museum and supporting it,» Grant told PEOPLE at the event, “and we want the museum to have a rich and truly culturally significant future.”.

Meanwhile, Reeves emphasized the social component of the gala.
«"Basically, I just want to see a lot of friends, and I really enjoy this gala because there are a lot of artists here and also people who support them," the actor said, with Grant adding, "And so are we.".

The latest news from the art-loving couple comes just two days after Grant revealed her relationship with Reeves at the launch of her new wine brand, LOVE Wine, LA, on Thursday, May 28. At the event, she spoke with PEOPLE about how she and her "grateful" actor boyfriend balance work and studio time.
«"The key" to achieving balance is "mutual respect," she said, adding, "Every project has its own autonomy, its own team, its own rules, its own beginning, middle, and end. So we're both people who are doing projects, and, you know, I lived with John Wick, I lived with Neo.".

Speaking of Reeves, known for his leading roles in the franchise «John Wick» and Neo in the films «"Matrix"» , Grant continued, "When he's getting into character, for example, I have a huge respect for his understanding that that's the middle or the end of the project, right? And I think the same thing applies to painting.".
«"When I go into artist mode, I'm completely immersed in it," she added. "I give myself over completely to the process, and it's not playing a character, but more of a performance—you see, painting is also a form of performance.".
