Prince William and Kate Middleton are undoubtedly in love—perhaps more than ever after Kate's cancer diagnosis and subsequent recovery in 2024. The Prince and Princess of Wales usually keep their feelings for each other private, but the future Queen unexpectedly let slip a romantic declaration of love for her husband during a public appearance.
On June 2, the Princess of Wales, along with King Charles and Queen Camilla, attended a reception at St. James's Palace dedicated to the work of Cancer Research UK. The organization, of which Charles is patron, is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.

As reported by Hello!, Kate, dressed in a red and white Rodarte dress with a heart print, holding a red Miu Miu clutch and completing her look with red Gianvito Rossi shoes, as well as a necklace and earrings with rubies and diamonds, made guests laugh with rare comments for her about love to William. Pop star Ronan Keating asked Kate to "say hello to William," to which his wife, Storm Keating, added, "He's such a gentleman." To which Ronan replied, "Yes, we love him.".
Kate then sweetly added, "Me too!", which made the couple laugh.

These weren't Kate's only touching words about her husband, who wasn't at the reception on Tuesday evening. Speaking to Sebastian Bowen—the widower of the late Dame Deborah James, who died of complications from bowel cancer in 2022—Bowen told the princess, "I think of you a lot." The Prince of Wales worked closely with James as she tirelessly campaigned to raise awareness of bowel cancer, including, as described Hello!, had a "sympathetic conversation" with Bowen and James's two children. "He gave some good advice," James said.
«"He's good at it," Kate replied of the future king.

«"I told her I was incredibly touched by how supportive they were as a family, and I think of them constantly," Bowen said. "It was incredibly touching and moving for me and my family to have the opportunity to meet them, receive their ongoing support, and donate to the foundation both privately and publicly.".
After being diagnosed with cancer in early 2024, the Princess of Wales completed chemotherapy in September of that year and declared herself in remission in January 2025. Kate "has been incredibly open about her journey, something that has never happened before in the royal family," a source said. The Telegraph . The insider added that the experience "was really bloody tough" for William and Kate.
