In "Gimme Dat," Latto raps, "Bitches said what? Let's get it straight / Got a real Hermes in my closet / Talking about buying grandma a bag like my nigga ain't bought one yet.".
She is apparently reacting to an alleged audio recording of a conversation between Cardi and Ice Spice's manager that leaked online last fall, in which Cardi called the rapper "cowardly Latto.".
«"I'll show you now, I'm not Latto," a voice presumably belonging to Bardi says in the video. "I'm going to beat the shit out of her. I'm going to knock her out. All of you. I'm going to kick her ass. My boys are going to beat up Riot. You're going to see what's going on here. You think I'm fucking some cowardly Latto?"»

The conflict between Spice and Latto escalated significantly between 2023 and 2025.
After the audio surfaced online, Cardi apologized on social media.
«"I was furious and annoyed at the time, but I love Latto so much!!" Cardi wrote on X. "I respect everything about her, including her team, who are so sweet... AND NO! I'm not so proud that I won't apologize to someone I truly respect, so this is my public apology, and now I'm secretly going to buy her a ton of money.".
Later in the song "Gimme Dat," Latto adds, "Wish these motherfuckers would come in the studio/Calling PlaqueBoyMax." According to TMZ, Cardi and PBM are in a relationship, and the Bronx-born singer mentioned him during a football game at Super Bowl LX this year.
It's also important to note that the former "Put It On Da Floor Again" collaborators teamed up again for a remix of Cardi's "Errtime" in September 2025, less than a week before the phone call leaked.
While the exact recording date of the alleged conversation between Cardi and Spice's manager is unknown, some speculate it dates back to July 2024, given the reference to an event at the Empire State Building that Spice attended that month. If so, Spice and Latto were having a dispute at the time, which they later resolved with the release of the track "Gyatt.".
