Paul McCartney once gave his late wife Linda McCartney a piece of jewelry that was especially meaningful to him—and he borrowed the idea from Jackie Kennedy herself. .
The legendary musician, 83, took part in an episode of the show.» Chicken Shop Date» with Amanda Dimoldenberg , During which they discovered they both had a weakness for lilies. Flowers, McCartney said, were beautiful, but the word "lily" itself held special significance for him, as it reminded him of a touching gift he gave his first wife, Linda.
McCartney remembered a sweet gift idea he saw from another famous couple, Aristotle Onassis and his wife, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, and decided to put his own spin on it, he said.
«"I saw Aristotle Onassis give his wives bracelets," Paul said. "And one of them was Jackie Onassis's, and it said JILY: 'Jackie, I love you.'".
«"And then it suddenly occurred to me: 'Perfect!' Give Linda that name, and it becomes LILY, 'Linda, I love you,'" he continued. "Lily. It's the perfect name for that.".

McCartney and Linda, whom he called his "lovely girlfriend," married in 1969, shortly before McCartney officially left the Beatles the following year. The couple had three children—Mary, 56; Stella, 54; and James, 48—and remained together until 1998, when Linda died of breast cancer at age 56. McCartney also adopted Heather, Linda's daughter from a previous marriage.
In the new episode of the podcast Words + Music with Audible, an extended version of his documentary Man on the Run, McCartney recently shared his thoughts on the impact Linda had on him. He said that when he and Linda first met, she had a "liberating effect" on him.
«"She grew up in a really posh part of New York City. She was destined to be a sort of corporate executive's wife. But she didn't like that. She loved rock 'n' roll," McCartney said. "And she'd sneak out late at night and go to New York with her boyfriend, for example. So she had a lot of freedom in her thinking. I think that really benefited me.".

She also advised McCartney "not to be too tense," he said, and taught him a phrase that helped him relax.
«"You'd say, 'Oh, I'd love to do this and that, but I can't.' And she'd say, 'Yes, I can.' It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders," McCartney recalled of Linda. "'Yes, I can.' Yes, of course I can!"„
