In the new episode of Deadline's Doc Talk podcast, Tribeca Film Festival director Kara Cusumano discusses the festival's documentary program. Of course, it's not just music-themed films. Cusumano talks about in the film "How to Feed a Dictator"« — an intriguing documentary about the chefs tasked with catering to the nutritional needs of all-powerful political leaders. The film «Mario» , meanwhile, is dedicated to the late New York Governor Mario Cuomo, and all of Mario's children appear in it, including his son Andrew, who himself served two terms as New York Governor (and briefly a third before scandal forced him to resign).

Cusumano explores documentary film «Miss Presentation: Rise Up! »" directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, California's "first partner." She is married to Governor Gavin Newsom, the expected Democratic presidential nominee in 2028. Speaking of presidents, the film «"Playing in President of the United States! directed by Josh Greenbaum ( «Will and Harper» ), features comedians who have enjoyed making fun of US presidents. This group includes Will Ferrell, Chevy Chase, Alec Baldwin, Keegan-Michael Key, Dana Carvey, and Maya Rudolph (who played presidential candidate Kamala Harris in SNL ) and others. The film is based on the book by Peter Funt, the son of the creator «Candid Camera» Allen Funt.

Cusumano explains why Ferrell, who memorably played President George W. Bush (remember "The Strategy"?), has now rethought his satirical interpretation somewhat.

We'll also discuss films about the late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and the couple who owned the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968 (now a museum).

This is the topic of the new episode of the Doc Talk podcast, hosted by John Ridley ( films "12 Years a Slave"« , «Shirley» ) and Matt Carey, Deadline's senior documentary editor. The podcast is produced by Deadline and Ridley's Nō Studios.
