Prime Video will publish weekly rankings of the most-watched TV shows and movies, although the streaming service will not provide any data on these programs.
The weekly charts will launch on Wednesdays and feature the streaming service's 10 most-watched movies and TV shows (both English-language and non-English-language), as well as the 10 most-watched non-English-language movies and TV shows.
The move is in line with Netflix's strategy of releasing four lists every Tuesday, though they include the top 10 TV and movie titles in both English and other languages.
However, unlike Netflix, Prime Video will not provide precise viewing figures to support these ratings. Instead, the streaming service will continue to publish data for particularly notable releases, as it has done in the past with popular series like "Off Campus" and "Fallout," a source familiar with the matter told TheWrap.
Even without the data, this is a step forward in transparency in the streaming industry, where Netflix releases weekly top 10 rankings (with data) on Tuesdays, and Hulu/Disney, Peacock, and Paramount+ share rankings with the press when they achieve high scores.
Nielsen also publishes weekly streaming charts on Thursdays, which provide viewership data for the top 10 most popular programs, both streaming and acquired, although these charts are released with a month's lag.
In the first TV series ranking, the sensational series "Off Campus" from BookTok took first place, followed by "Spider-Noir" starring Nicolas Cage, the recently completed "The Boys" and "Citadel".
In the film category, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost Wars took first place, followed by the Indian film The System, Crime 101, and the Italian original No Place to Be Alone / Non è un Paese per Single.
