Rapper Franke Jax No Mad, real name Baraka Njenga, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier this month.
The rapper's partner, Bailey, posted a joint message on the rapper's Instagram account, announcing his arrest and a fundraiser in his support.
«"It is with a heavy heart that I report that on May 14th, around 1:30 p.m., Baraka was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement," Bailey wrote. "We were leaving his apartment to get groceries when two unmarked vehicles surrounded my car, blocked us in, and took Baraka away.".

«"Navigating this situation is already difficult, traumatic, and stressful. Baraka was transported from Portland to Tacoma and is still awaiting a meeting with his lawyer and judge," Bailey continued. "While we wait for more information, I will be taking responsibility for the care of Baraka's cat, Nusu, as well as his apartment and bills, in addition to my own responsibilities. I will also be helping him stay in touch and update him on any progress on the street, visiting him regularly and facilitating visits with others, and coordinating all available resources.".
In a separate post, Frankie Jax's partner, No Mada, announced he would like to obtain letters of recommendation for use in court. In the same post, Bailey confirmed that the rapper has a lawyer. According to ICE, the rapper is being held at the Northwest ICE Processing Center (NWIPC) in Tacoma, Washington. Writer Rhys Langston from Passion of the Weiss added details of Frankie Jax No Mad's arrest, writing that when he left his apartment to get groceries, cars blocked him in when "masked men jumped out of their cars on both sides and immediately started yelling, demanding that Baraka come out or his window would be broken.".
According to his Spotify profile, Frankie Jaxx No Mad is a native of Nairobi, Kenya. He currently resides in Los Angeles, where he has been part of the underground rap scene for 11 years. He previously lived in Portland, Oregon.
