Sabrina Carpenter has reportedly been granted a restraining order against her alleged stalker.
Sabrina Carpenter has reportedly obtained a protective order against her alleged stalker, William Applegate. According to Rolling Stone, a Los Angeles judge granted the 27-year-old singer a temporary protective order against Applegate after she described a series of horrific incidents that left her in "significant and ongoing fear" for her personal safety.
Carpenter claimed Applegate had repeatedly shown up at her home uninvited in recent weeks. Furthermore, he attempted to break into her home and refused to leave when stopped by security. He claimed to know the "Espresso" singer and that he was expected there. Furthermore, during an "extremely disturbing" incident on May 23, Applegate caused a disturbance outside the singer's home. He even refused to leave until police arrived and arrested him.
In her statement, Carpenter wrote, "[Applegate] fabricated an outrageous and completely false claim that he personally knew me and that I was waiting for him. This was a complete lie." She continued, "His systematic harassment, illegal entry, and surveillance have caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress, and I fear what he may do if this court doesn't stop him.".
Carpenter said that on May 25, Applegate returned to her home, "conducting what can only be described as deliberate surveillance of my movements and my home.".
Carpenter presented surveillance footage as evidence against Applegate. She also requested a protective order for herself and her older sister. On Friday, a Los Angeles judge granted the order. The judge also ordered Applegate to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Carpenter and anyone around her.
It should be noted that the next court hearing is scheduled for June 17. The following day, Applegate is expected to appear in criminal court on charges of trespassing.
