While the Gen Z wunderkinds who created horror films «Behind the Scenes» и «Obsession» , continue their box office success, with two new major studio releases coming this weekend: «Scary Movie» from Paramount and «"Masters of the Universe" by Amazon MGM.
The film "Scary Movie"« is released in wide release this weekend and is showing impressive results. On Thursday night, the film grossed $7.7 million in previews in 2,800 theaters. The film will expand its release to 3,400 theaters in North America over the weekend, with a total gross expected to reach approximately $40 million.

This R-rated comedy, which is being released in 53 countries worldwide, marks the return of the parody film franchise, which lampoons horror clichés, popular culture, and current events. Produced in collaboration with the original studio, Miramax, it is the sixth installment in the franchise, but the first in over two decades to feature the series' creators, the Waynes brothers.
Director film "Scary Movie"« Michael Tiddes directed the film, which also stars franchise stars Anna Faris and Regina King. The film didn't receive high critical acclaim, with a current Metacritic score of 37.
Another new release coming out this weekend is the film «Masters of the Universe» from Amazon MGM and Mattel Film, which grossed $4.4 million in advance showings and is expected to gross around $30 million in the U.S. for the weekend, according to early estimates.
In the film "Masters"« Nicholas Galitzine plays Prince Adam/He-Man, the beloved '80s cartoon character who went from toy to hero. Separated from his homeworld, Adam returns to Eternia, where he must save it from the villainous Skeletor (Jared Leto). The adventure, directed by Travis Knight, also features other classic characters. «Masters» , such as Teela (Camila Mendes), Duncan/Man-in-Armor (Idris Elba) and Evil Lynn (Alison Brie). Movie received higher critical acclaim, scoring a 54 on Metacritic.
Movie «"Backrooms" , which is in its second weekend, as well as «Obsession ), now in its fourth weekend, are looking to continue their box office dominance. Each of these films has already broken numerous box office records. In just its first week of release, Behind the Scenes became A24's highest-grossing film in the US, surpassing «Marty Supreme» starring Timothée Chalamet, and Kane Parsons became the youngest director ever to hold the number one spot at the weekend box office. As for «"Obsessions »"Curry Barker, it is the first film released after Christmas (since 1982 , when E.T. came out), the second and third weekends of which showed higher results than the first.
Horror film "Behind the Scenes"« (Backrooms) , a $10 million film based on Parsons' viral YouTube short film series, made another $5 million on Thursday and is projected to top $45 million for the weekend. "Barker's Obsession ), made for just $750,000 and acquired by Focus at the Toronto International Film Festival, is approaching the $200 million worldwide mark.
Other surviving films include: «The Mandalorian» from the universe «Star Wars» , the debut film of Grogu and comedian Nate Bargatze «The Bread Baker» , as well as the biographical film about Michael Jackson "« Michael"» .
