June 3 (UPI) -- ABC announced that comedian and Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernandez will host the 2026 ESPY Awards.
In a press release Wednesday, the network said Hernandez, 28, "will bring his signature humor and vibrant personality" to the stage July 15 at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater in New York City.
«"I started comedy 10 years ago in Cleveland, Ohio, and would travel 12 hours by train to New York City to sell tickets to comedy shows on the street in Greenwich Village in exchange for the opportunity to perform on stage," Hernandez said in a statement. "I'm honored, and frankly, utterly surreal, to host this year's ESPY Awards in New York City. I'm sure the atmosphere will be incredible.".
The ESPY Awards is an annual event honoring athletes and their achievements in sports. Past hosts have included Jimmy Kimmel, John Cena, LeBron James, Peyton Manning, Russell Wilson, and Serena Williams.
This year, the show will air at 8:00 PM ET on ABC and is also available to watch on ESPN+. The following day, it will be available to watch on Hulu, the ESPN app, and ABC Video on Demand.

Hernandez joined SNL in 2022 and released his first comedy special on Netflix, American Boy, in January.
