In addition to having to come to terms with his "pretty boy" status, Danson has previously spoken about how he dealt with being called Malone after the show ended.
«First of all, the transition was easy because at the time I left, I had destroyed my personal life so much that it didn’t even occur to me that I was actually leaving «Cheers» for a few months because I was just dealing with myself and my personal issues," he told Charlie Day on an August episode of his podcast. "I think I left «Cheers «"because I said to myself: 'I am destroying everything in my life for the better.'".
«"I was changing for the better and working really hard at it, so I thought, 'Why not jump off a cliff?'" he added. "And [there was] a little feeling… that if I didn't leave now, I might not know if I could do anything else, and I want to see what I can do.".
