On The Daily Show Ivanka Trump has been criticized for purchasing a luxury 1,400-acre Mediterranean island, calling it a "project in need of a major overhaul" while America's economy suffers under her father's presidency.
A few days after 44-year-old Ivanka boasted on a podcast that she and her husband Jared Kushner were turning Sazan Island into a private eco-resort, the host Daily Show Michael Costa showed a clip of her interview and, slowly clapping, sarcastically remarked, "Let's give this couple a round of applause.".
«"And for those of you thinking, 'Hey, shouldn't billionaires do some research before buying a private island?'" Costa said. "What you don't understand is that there aren't any rooms on the island yet. They can't lay the foundations for those rooms until they burn down all those stupid trees, okay?"«
On David Senra's podcast Sunday, Ivanka revealed that she and Kushner discovered the island while swimming near a friend's boat and were "enchanted" by it.
Costa ridiculed her "impulse purchase" and added: "Could the detachment from reality be any more emphasized?"«

In the podcast, she said, "For me, it's more of a challenge than anything else. It's the culmination of all my experience in real estate, all my travels, a lot of thinking about how I want to live, how I think people increasingly want to live, and trying to actually create something that would be a tangible embodiment of that.".

«"Come on, lady. You're rich and you bought an island! Just say it," he said. "Not everything has to be a profound spiritual journey.".

Ivanka and Kushner's $1.4 billion plans to transform the island off the coast of Albania have been under scrutiny for years after the project was first approved in December 2024.
Although Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed support for the project, he faced backlash from environmental groups, as Sazan – now known locally as "Trump Island" – was previously one of the last uninhabited islands in the Mediterranean.
Albanian prosecutors recently announced an investigation into a luxury resort project amid protests from citizens and environmental groups.
The project, which the president's daughter and son-in-law are passionate about, continues amid Donald Trump's low approval ratings. A recent poll Politico, A survey released Friday found that most Americans consider the current cost-of-living crisis the worst in living memory. Forty-six percent of respondents said they hold the president fully or mostly responsible for the state of the economy.
