The final still from Man of Tomorrow, which features Nicholas Hoult posing in Lex Luthor's iconic wardrobe item, has instantly sparked a wave of response from fans.
On June 1, DC Studios co-head James Gunn posted the first photo of the actor in the villain's comic-accurate green battlesuit on X (formerly Twitter). Gunn captioned the image: "Suit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow.".
The fan reaction was immediate and overwhelming, with one writing, "Gunn just shot all the haters. Streets say it's a movie!!!" "My honest reaction, GO!" echoed another. "Once again, just like in the comics," wrote a dedicated DC fan. "The king of pettiness is back," exclaimed another enthusiastically.
When Gunn first announced the film, he and Hoult shared illustrations from DC comics depicting Lex in the same armor. Now, ahead of the July 9, 2027, release, fans can see this comic-book-accurate design brought to life in the film.
In a series of posts on Threads, James Gunn claimed the battle suit was "100 percent practical." He noted that the actor who played Nosferatu "can move incredibly well" in it. "And yes, in the film version, he added shatterproof lexiglas [a patented trademark]," Gunn added.
In "Man of Tomorrow," Nicholas Hoult returns as Superman, played by David Corenswet. The two foes form an uneasy alliance against a far greater threat: Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
Matthew Lillard has joined the sequel's cast, joining Millie Alcock as Supergirl. They complement an ensemble that already includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
The cast also includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. Additionally, Aaron Pierre will reprise his role as Green Lantern John Stewart in Man of Tomorrow.
