The new executive producer of "60 Minutes" sent out a memo after Scott Pelley's firing, saying the show would never "take direction from the owners" of CBS regarding stories.

Following the dismissal of Scott Pelley and other program staff «60 Minutes» The show's new executive producer, Nick Bilton, sent a new memo to staff, trying to reassure them about the program's future amid allegations of corporate influence.

«"We will always put the story first—not attitudes, not politics, not anything else. We will be guided solely by what makes our content best for viewers," Bilton wrote. "And this goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: we will never take direction from the company's owners regarding these stories.".

Bilton also wrote that he had held discussions with the program's three remaining staff correspondents—Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker, and Jon Wertheim—although his memo did not indicate whether they planned to remain with the program.

«"We talked about what makes 60 Minutes exceptional, about the traditions and legacy of the past, and how such significant content is created. We also talked about change: about new audiences, new platforms, and the new ways of storytelling that these new audiences demand.".

Bilton also wrote that Maria Gavrilovich has been appointed senior producer.
