A Revealed Book Sarah Ferguson ruined her friendship with Princess Diana .
According to the writer Andrew Lowney , close relationships between ex-wives Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor и King Charles III stopped after the publication of Ferguson's autobiography «"My Story" in 1996.
The royal historian told Daily Mail , that the accusation "in which she mentioned catching a wart from borrowing shoes from Lady Diana" was the decisive moment.

«"In fact, Diana was very concerned that Sarah Ferguson might well have been spreading rumours about her, and the relationship was never repaired, although Sarah Ferguson pretended it was," Lowney told the publication.
In more halcyon times, the former daughters-in-law reportedly spoke frankly to each other about the difficulties of marrying into the royal family.
«"Diana would come to Sarah Ferguson every Sunday and they would complain about the royal family," the writer claimed.
«"They both felt very constrained within the royal family," he continued. "But at the same time, Diana was worried that Fergie might be too loud and damaging to Diana's reputation, so she began to distance herself from him.".

Diana and Ferguson also experienced the breakdown of their marriages.
After 11 years of marriage, the former Prince and Princess of Wales separated in December 1992 and divorced in August 1996.
The former Duke and Duchess of York ended their relationship in March 1992 and officially divorced in May 1996.
Lowney claimed that Diana "allowed Sarah Ferguson to do it [file for divorce] on her own and essentially learned from the way the royal family treated Sarah Ferguson how she would handle her own divorce.".

In August 1997, a 36-year-old man died tragically in a car accident in Paris.
In 2023, Ferguson reflected on Diana and her legacy in an episode of her podcast, Tea Chats with the Duchess and Sarah.
«"Diana and I always talked about charity. We loved helping others. So she was very similar to me," she said.
«"She never realized how talented she really was, and neither of us did. I hugged her, but she didn't understand," the 66-year-old added.

Ferguson also claimed they were related beyond their royal connections.
«"Her mother and my mother went to school together and were best friends," she said. "Diana was my third cousin. You know, it's just incredible how we came together.".
After Ferguson wasn't invited to the wedding Prince William и Kate Middleton , he made a bold public statement about the groom's late mother.
