Jay-Z appeared to insult Nicki Minaj by mentioning her husband, Kenneth Petty, during a freestyle at the Roots Picnic festival in Philadelphia.
On Saturday (May 30), Jay-Z performed at the annual festival and released a freestyle that appeared to address several rappers who have recently criticized him.
One of the lines seemed to be specifically referring to Nicki Minaj and her husband's status as a registered sex offender.
«"This lady's at it again, seems to be in love with them/Her Ken can't even... pick his own child... too many/A rapper can't be my opponent, I got MAGA Republicans/These attacks are coming from the very top of government, good luck to them," he rapped.

After performing these lines, Jay-Z invited Nicki's ex-boyfriend, Meek Mill, on stage to perform "Dreams and Nightmares." He didn't mention her name, but it sounded like confirmation that his lyrics were directed at Nicki.
During the same freestyle, Jay-Z also appeared to take a jab at Drake, who insulted him in a song. Iceman , and Ye, who mentioned Hov's children on social media last year.
Jay-Z's alleged insult comes nearly a year after Nicki began attacking him in a post on X. She repeatedly criticized him and claimed he owed her millions of dollars for her stake in Tidal.
In October, the rapper stepped up her social media bullying, posting an AI-generated image of Jay-Z as a Barbie doll, complete with pink hair, a pink shirt, and a giant chain with the word "Queen" written on it.
In the caption, she wrote, "I am your karma." She then claimed that her California home had been the target of multiple false alarms, adding that this wouldn't happen to Hov, whom she nicknamed "Lace-Z.".
That same month, Nicki announced that she would not be releasing a new album, and suggested that Jay-Z was the reason.
«"Okay, I'm not releasing this album anymore," she wrote on X. "No more music. I hope you're happy [with Jay-Z] now.".
